In Loving Memory
Gold Star Mother
Laura M. Rhemann
Gold Star mother, Laura M. Rhemann entered in to eternal rest on June 18, 1997 in Houston, Texas.

Laura was a devoted wife, mother and Christian who had a real fervency for life and who rarely met a stranger.  After her son, Ensign Gordon Edward Rhemann was killed in the service of his country during World War II, she devoted her life to service in the church, veteran services in hospitals, and meeting with families as they received word that their loved was KIA.

She truly believed that she could best honor her son's memory by being of service to those veterans and their families who were in a time of need.

During her fifty years of dedicated service she served in the following positions:

National Vice President, National Committee Woman from Texas, State of Texas Vice President and organized the Austin Texas Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers.

Past President of the Ladies Auxillary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Austin, Texas.

Served twice as VFW Ladies' Auxilliary President to Post 856 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Lifetime Member of the Grace United Methodist Church Women of Austin, Texas.

Past Worthy Matron and life member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Laura was responsible for the World War II Memorial placed near the State of Texas capital Building in Austin, Texas.

Laura gave her love, friendship and herself to all, even in times of of her own greatest pain and sadness.  She will be sadly missed by all of those who knew and loved her, but she will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
